Tuition for the Vail Youth Symphony is $375 per school year for Symphony Orchestra and $325 per school year for Chamber and String Orchestra.

Students who participate in their school band or orchestra program for the entire 23/24 school year will be awarded a $75 discount. For homeschooled students or students whose schools do not offer an ensemble program, the same discount may be available if that student participates in private lessons. In the event that a scheduling conflict prevents the student from participating in their school group (AP courses, graduation requirements, etc.—not strictly elective courses) please contact the director. Families with more than one child participating in VYS will receive $25 off tuition for each sibling (after the first child).

Tuition is due by the first rehearsal of the 2023 season.

As custodian of the aforementioned minor, I grant my authorization and consent for the Vail Youth Symphony to administer general first aid treatment for minor injuries or illnesses. If the injury or illness is severe, I authorize Vail Youth Symphony to seek professional emergency personnel to attend, transport, and treat the minor to issue consent for any medical care deemed advisable by a licensed medical professional or institution. I authorize Vail Youth Symphony to exercise best judgement upon the advice of medical or emergency personnel.

Student Attendance and Punctuality Agreement

Vail Youth Symphony Student and Parent(s)- The VYS schedule is carefully considered and the rehearsal and performance schedule is published well in advance. Please be sure to plan your individual and family calendars carefully, so as to avoid absences.

Each student will be permitted three unexcused absences per season. For extenuating circumstances, speak with the director. School concerts will not count towards unexcused absences.

Absences may be excused at the sole discretion of the musical director. Except in the event of an emergency, absences must be reported to the director as far in advance as possible. Though every rehearsal is important, some rehearsals are critical for managing the expectations of the students and directors. In the event that a student misses a sectional, chair test, or dress rehearsal without prior approval, the director may initiate a variety of consequences at his/her sole discretion, including but not limited to, reassigning chair placement, reassigning solo parts, etc.

Reporting Absences

All absences, early departures, and late arrivals, except in the case of emergency, must be reported to the conductor/director before the beginning of rehearsal. Failure to communicate an absence to the musical director before the beginning of a rehearsal will result in an unexcused absence.

Tardiness

It is the expectation that students arrive at rehearsal 10-15 minutes early. Upon arrival, it is expected that students be seated, tuned, and warmed up (possessing all required materials for your instrument, your music, and a pencil) when the director starts rehearsal at 6:00pm.

Music/Folder Replacement Policy

Each year, the Vail Youth Symphony lends out music and professional quality folders to students for rehearsal and at ­home practice. At the beginning of the season, each student is assigned a folder number and will be held responsible for the care of the music and folder. Students will return their folders and music at the end of each season.

If the folder and/or the music becomes lost or damaged beyond normal wear and tear, the student will be held responsible for a $30 replacement fee. Please sign below to notify the VYS directors that you have read and understand the music/folder responsibilities.

Photography Release for Minor Child

I hereby authorize Vail Youth Symphony, hereafter referred to as “Company,” to publish photographs taken during the 2023-2024 orchestral season of myself and/or the minor child listed below, and our names and likenesses, for use in the Vail Youth Symphony’s print, online and video-based marketing materials, as well as other Company publications.

I hereby release and hold harmless Vail Youth Symphony from any reasonable expectation of privacy or confidentiality for myself and for the minor child listed below associated with the images specified above. Further, I attest that I am the parent or legal guardian of the child listed below and that I have full authority to consent and authorize Vail Youth Symphony to use their likenesses and names.

I further acknowledge that participation is voluntary and that neither I, or the minor child, will receive financial compensation of any type associated with the taking or publication of these photographs or participation in Company marketing materials or other Company publications. I acknowledge and agree that publication of said photos confers no rights of ownership or royalties whatsoever.

I hereby release Vail Youth Symphony, its contractors, its employees and any third parties involved in the creation or publication of Company publications, from liability for any claims by me or any third party in connection with my participation or the participation of the minor child listed below.
